Coffee Story

The story:

Ninety Plus founder Joseph Brodsky started in coffee with his older brother, Michael Johnson, at JBC Coffee Roasters in Madison, Wisconsin 20 years ago.

Since then, the brothers have come full-circle with this collaboration and the fruits of their farming and roasting excellence are becoming part of a larger movement with coffee from Ninety Plus Gesha Estates in Panama.

JBC Coffee Roaster's is proud to now offer this stupendous coffee to our customers. This brotherly collaboration represents a shared familial passion for amazing coffee and the relationships surrounding it. Joseph and Michael join Jake Brodsky, Co-Founder of Novo Coffee, as three of five coffee brothers owning significant coffee industry companies. I guess you could say coffee is in their blood.

Coffee Review

97 pts      Aroma: 10     Acidity: 9     Body: 9     Flavor: 10     Aftertaste: 9

Blind Assessment: Delicate yet deeply aromatic, gloriously and almost impossibly complex in its fruit and floral expression. Fruit ranges from grapefruit through lychee to passionfruit; flowers suggest lavender, rose, more. There is chocolate and a grapy Cognac reduction, and finally a savory resonance we called sweet mushroom. Juicy, floral-tart acidity; viscous, syrupy mouthfeel. The finish is laden with complex floral top-notes in the short, rounding to hints of sweet fruit and deep Cognac-toned chocolate in the long.

Bottom Line: An extraordinarily original coffee, both in story (Gesha variety, unorthodox processing) and in its stunning aromatics, both intricately complex, yet grandly and resonantly complete.
