Yader & Karen Nicaragua

Coffee Story

Coffee Story

We're excited to introduce this new apple concentrate microlot from Yader & Karen-family growers at the El Cipres farm in Jinotenga, Nicaragua. This coffee  boasts aroma and tasting notes of apple butter, cinnamon, and caramel. What makes it an apple concentrate micro-lot? A natural mutation occurred on the farm from bee pollination to create an as-of-yet unclassified/unidentified variety of coffee that tastes distinctly of apples. This special micro-lot is composed solely of this new varietal and results in a very distinctive Nicaragua coffee. A must-try!

The farm of Yader & Karen is located in a unique micro-climate in the prime coffee cultivating region of Jinotega. Yader and Karen live with their children Jesus and Elvin at such a high altitude that their farm’s coffee is harvested two months after the rest of the country’s coffee due to the colder climate. Because of the temperature, their beans have a lower maturity rate which allows them to collect more nutrients. The result is sweeter, denser beans with more complex cupping notes.
