Coffee is in the blood. Coffee has been in Jose Alfonso Rodriguez's family since he was a child. Founded 39 years ago, Finca Talquezalar is a 21 hectare farm located in La Palma, Chalatenango. Jose Alfonso learned coffee-farming from his father and has been working with coffee full-time for 15 years now. His goal: to continue improving the cup quality of his coffee and experiment with unique growing and processing techniques while simultaneously continuing the coffee-farming traditions passed on by his father.

Blind Assessment: Sweet, crisply nut- and cocoa-toned. Cocoa, hazelnut, honey, a hint of lime zest, artichoke blossom in aroma and cup. Delicately crisp, lightly zesty in structure; light and silky in mouthfeel. Surprisingly resonant in the finish, with flavor consolidating around flowers and a hint of citrus.

The Bottom Line: Both delicate and resonant, animated by sweet, honeyish nut and lime-toned citrus.
