Gatomboya is one of the four washing stations in the Barichu Farmers Cooperative Society. Around 1000 farmers contribute ripe cherry to the Gatomboya washing station. Nyeri County is known as one of the best locations on the globe for producing high quality, complex coffees and the Barichu Farmers Cooperative is known for taking good care of its member producers and the nearby community. Collectively it’s a win-win: great coffee and fair compensation/support for growers. This particular lot is composed of the most coveted varietals in Kenya: SL-28 and SL-34. The result is a complex, velvety, and bright coffee with aroma and tasting notes of cranberry, pink grapefruit, vanilla, and sweet tomato.
