Brand Ambassador & Wholesale Coffee Educator

Brand Ambassador: You are the ambassador of all things coffee for JBC: promoting our brand, embracing/encouraging an elevated barista culture in the region, competing in SCA/or other coffee competitions, taking part in SCA volunteer and/or training opportunities, working with our sales leader to follow up on sales leads, social media marketing, promotional events, and sampling.   

The Brand Ambassador is a creative, highly-motivated individual with experience and passion for connecting with current and future customers. That passion is evident as the ambassador engages with customers daily, with the ultimate goal of turning fans into customers-both retail and wholesale. Community leadership and participation are integral to the success of this position. The Brand Ambassador is a go-getter who can take direction from team leaders but also work individually to plan and implement the variety of tasks/agendas of this position.

Expectations:

  • Compete at or take part in coffee events such as: the SCA Barista or Brewer's Cup Competition, Coffee Fest, Coffee Con, Latte Art Competitions, etc.
  • Research and identify potential promotional events where to rep the JBC brand and bring event options to team leaders. Develop, plan and implement/attend and implement 1 to 2+ events per month.
  • Work with our sales leader to follow up on potential leads. Head out on regional sales “visits” at least twice per month.
  • Sample 3+ locations per month.
  • Join social media team in developing social media campaigns, content, and partaking in general sm conversations. Become familiar with JBC messaging and develop content that fits overall messaging. Generate traffic to our social media platforms through targeted engagement. Become an advocate for the company in social media spaces.

Wholesale Coffee Educator: Work directly with our wholesale partners as their coffee/espresso trainer.

Key Responsibilities: You are responsible for working with our roast master to implement/enhance our training curriculum for our wholesale customers. Become completely familiar with JBC Coffee Roaster’s training protocols and training manual. Train customers utilizing these guidelines. Continue research on best training practices and new concepts within the industry. Bring any suggested training enhancements or changes to the JBC Team before implementation. Help develop and lead additional JBC classroom/public education opportunities.

Expectations:

  • Train customers on an as-needed basis. Trainings can vary from several or more per month to zero per any given month.
  • Plan and implement additional public education opportunities at JBC: cupping demonstrations/activities, espresso/barista classes, brewing classes etc.
  • Interact with individual and group visitors to the roastery.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Marketing degree is welcomed but not required with relevant work experience and the possession of knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing.
  • Specialty Coffee Industry experience a must. Experience can vary from barista to leadership roles depending on knowledge base and propensity to understand and learn the industry and JBC’s role in the industry.
  • The organizational skills to plan and implement multiple different events/promotions/trainings etc.
  • Practices superior time management.
  • Possess functional knowledge of all social media platforms and computer savviness. Displays ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and video format.
  • Demonstrates winning social customer service techniques including patience, empathy, advocacy, conflict resolution, general likability, and engagement skills.
  • Maintains excellent communication and written skills.
  • Exceeds at building and maintaining sales relationships, online and off.

Please note: this is one position that is two-fold in duties.

Position is fulltime Tuesday –Saturday (Monday-Friday on weeks when there are no Saturday events). Travel expected.
