Coffee Story

This fair trade, organic coffee is sourced from family-owned farms organized around Asociacion de Productore Ecologicos de Planadas (ASOPEP) in the municipality of Planadas in Tolima, Colombia. On average, each producer cultivates coffee on 6 acres of land and relies on the income from coffee production for a living. ASOPEP recently acquired their fair trade certification to bolster support of and open new opportunities for coffee producers in the region.

Blind Assessment: Cocoa-toned, deeply sweet-savory. Dark chocolate, mulberry, dried mushroom, lily- and rhododendron-like floral notes in aroma and cup. Sweetly savory structure with round, gentle acidity; delicate, silky mouthfeel.

Bottom Line: A sweet, chocolaty FTO Colombia cup with umami intrigue.
